Life happens. We understand that schedules change and the unexpected happens. If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please call us right away to reschedule. We kindly request 24-48 hours notice for cancellations.
Please complete the online patient registration in advance and bring insurance, ID and any co-pays or deductibles. Additionally, many patients find it helpful to bring a list of questions so we can review your concerns during your appointment.
In most cases, you cannot eat or drink anything for 8-12 hours prior to your procedure. If your procedure only requires local anesthesia, you may be allowed to have a light meal one or two hours in advance. Please be sure to thoroughly brush and floss prior to your appointment, but only use a small amount of water to rinse.
Yes, please take your usual medications as directed the morning of your surgery. If you take aspirin, Vitamin E, or Warfarin, you will be asked to stop the medication a few days before your procedure.
Wear comfortable, loose clothing to your procedure. Button-up or open-collared shirts are often preferred. If you experience swelling after the procedure, loose attire is easier to change.
You will be given more specific instructions related to your procedure. However, general oral surgery post-care includes:
- Having someone to drive you home following the surgery, especially if sedative medication is used
- Taking pain relievers and antibiotics as recommended to stay on top of your pain and avoid infections
- Using ice packs or frozen peas to minimize swelling and discomfort
- Avoiding rinsing your mouth for 24 hours
- Following a soft food diet for the first few days after your procedure
- Not smoking
